Applications are being accepted for up to £16,000 grant funding to support SME businesses in the Black Country looking to grow their business up to 20%. Both capital and revenue grant funding is available for eligible businesses in the following sectors: Advanced Engineering; Building Technologies; Business Services; Environmental Technologies; Transport Technologies and Social Enterprises. The programme also provides businesses with a free package of support, starting with a 1-2-1 diagnostic to identify areas for business development. The Black Country GOLD project goes from strength to strength with more grant awards made to a diverse range of businesses from across the Black Country to help them undertake expansion projects. Up to September 36 of the 45 grant applications presented were approved by the panel; an approval rate of 80%. The average grant awarded is just under £9,000. The Black Country GOLD scheme is having a big impact with creation of new jobs, the 36 approved applications have identified 71 potential new jobs – some businesses have already recruited new staff to work on BC GOLD funded projects.
