I’ve seen some cynical comments on social media about the new plans for a revamped Mander Centre in Wolverhampton – I don’t want to repeat them here but I think you can use your imagination.

This is what the Express and Star are reporting:

Steven Burgin, retail asset management for Delancey, which owns the shopping centre said the multi-million pound investment could help boost regeneration across the city. He added: “Wolverhampton has not had retail investment for many years and needs to catch up with places like Birmingham, Telford and Merry Hill. We hope to bring some new brands to the city and that this will have a knock on effect leading to the regeneration of other areas.”

Do you think it is going to happen? I wasn’t living in the city when Debenhams withdraw from opening up in Wolverhampton previously so I don’t know the full story. I’ve heard that they are “planning” to open a department store in the “new” Mander Centre. Let’s hope it all goes ahead this time – although it won’t be until 2017.

If you have a business in the city centre you can come along to our next event on the 27th March 2014 at The Ramada Park Hall Hotel and find out more. You can register for the event here.

You can read all about it on the Express and Star website
